Obituary for Buford Carlyle Wilhelm Buford Carlyle Wilhelm
Retired VMI Plumber Was Rockbridge County Native

Buford Carlyle Wilhelm, 84, of Lexington, Virginia died Friday, January 25, 2019.

Born February 3, 1934 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Issac Wilhelm and Bessie Knick Wilhelm.

Buford was the last sibling in his family as he was predeceased by his brothers, Clyde and Ralph Wilhelm; sisters, Ethel Strole and Helen Reed; and grandson, Raye Wilhelm.

Buford was a member of Faith Mountain Baptist Church.

He was a plumber for Dunn's Plumbing & Heating for 14 years and retired from VMI after 21 years of service as a plumber. He loved being out on his farm taking care of his cows and all things farming, planting gardens and hunting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan Eubank Wilhelm; daughters, Bonnie Harris (Calvin) and Elise Johnson; sons, Carlyle (Terry) and David (Brenda) Wilhelm; grandchildren, Michael Harris (Brandi Wilson), Christina Bennington (Jeff), Tanya Johnson, Cara Wilhelm Graham (Ebrake Akers), Nicole Wilhelm (Ronnie Clark), Michaela Wilhelm (Josh Hostetter), Shana Crump (Alex Strickler), and Kimber Ross (Alex Ross); seven great grandchildren, Justin and Megan Bennington, Raylan Graham, Henry Clark, Rosie Crump, Khloe and Avery Ross.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Harrison Funeral Home.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
