Charles Elmore Wright, 84, of 303 Jonestown Road, Covington, Virginia died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Wright was born February 18, 1935 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Frank Charles Wright and Roxie Arritt Wright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Charlie retired in 1986 as an industrial truck driver for the John Deere Company in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was a retired member of the Evansdale Iowa Fire Department, the John Deere Fire Brigade and the Boiling Springs Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Kolar Wright of Covington; five sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Martha Wright and Kevin and Sue Wright and Michael and Kristine Wright, all of Waterloo, Iowa; Steven and Michelle Wright of Hudson, Iowa, and Quintin and Jennifer Wright of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Joy Wheeler of Covington; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one brother and sister-law, Clayton and Hazel Wright of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Earwood officiating.

Interment will be made in Lone Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
