Obituary for Ray Blackburn Hicks Ray Blackburn Hicks
Owner Of Ray's Transmission Service Dies At Age 86

Mr. Ray Blackburn Hicks, age 86, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his residence.

He was the husband of Corrine Rucker Hicks.

Mr. Hicks was born October 4, 1932 in Bath County, the son of the late Ernest and Alice Blackburn Hicks.

Ray served his country as a member of the United States Army.

A resident of this community for fifty years, he was the owner and operator of Ray's Transmission. He was a member of Emory United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Corrine Hicks, Mr. Hicks is survived by a son, Ray B. Hicks, Jr. of Hot Springs; two daughters, Kathy Shrewsbury of Roanoke and Patricia Case of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Taylor Bryant, Hayden Hicks and Rushford Fleshman; and one great grandchild, Scout Bryant.

In addition to his parents, Ernest and Alice Hicks, Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Hicks, Gorne Hicks and Dolphus Hicks and three sisters, Annie Cool, Mayrene Tenny and Camilla Cudd.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wright officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Emory United Methodist Church, 7119 Jackson River Road, Hot Springs, VA 24445.
