Peggy Wade Hayes, 88, of Buena Vista, Virginia died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 18, 1930 in Rockbridge County, one of 14 children to the late Thomas Albert Wade and Mary Bolen Wade. Peggy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton "Preacher" Hayes, and son-in-law, Charles A. Martin III.

Peggy was a member of the McCutchen Presbyterian Church for many years.

Surviving are her children, Clinton "Charlie" Hayes (Karen) of Buena Vista, Peggy Jean Martin of Lexington, Robert Hayes (Teresa) of Stuarts Draft, Kitty Hayes-Falls of Lexington, and Perry L. Hayes of Panama; grandchildren, Mike, Aimee, Christy, David, Robbie and Jeffrey; three great-granddaughters and seven great-grandsons.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow at Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may gather with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Harrison Funeral Home.
