Obituary for Gary (George) Francis Gilpin Gary (George) Francis Gilpin
Westvaco Retiree Was First Church Of The Nazarene Sunday School Superintendent

Mr. Gary (George) Francis Gilpin, age 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

He was the husband of Rachel Gilpin.

Mr. Gilpin was born May 22, 1939 in Hinton, WVa, the son of Duward K. Gilpin and Nellie Meador Gilpin.

George was employed with Westvaco for 38 years.

He was a faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene as well as the Sunday School Superintendent. Gary was considered to be "one of a kind". He was a very dear, giving and loving man to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Huffman and husband, Dennis of Covington; a very special brother-in-law, Bobby Angell and wife, Jenny; adopted daughters, Wanda Haynes, Vickie Smith, Betty Leitch and Billie Gibson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gilpin is preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Gilpin and one brother, Kenneth Gilpin Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Sonny Wiseman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to First Church of the Nazarene, C/O of Sonny Wiseman, 336 E. Parrish St., Covington, VA 24426 or The American Cancer Society, 2840 VA-419, Suite 116A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
