Clifton Forge Truck Driver Also Worked With The Salvation Army

Walter John Watson, age 68, of 724 Rose Ave., Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at his residence.

He was born December 4, 1950 in Northampton, Massachusetts to the late Walter H. Watson and Dorothy Barre Watson.

He was a retired truck driver for Butler Transport and a pastor for the Salvation Army.

Walter was also a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Watson.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Walker Sims Watson of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Michele Jackson of Fort Humphreys, South Korea and Cathy Mitchell of North Carolina; three sons, William Sims of Montpelier, Virginia, Thomas Sims of Clifton Forge and Michael Watson of Alabama; two sisters, Elaine Turcotte of Massachusetts and Bernadine Lotz of Tennessee; ten grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two aunts, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Clifton Forge Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 28, 2019.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, handled the arrangements.
