Obituary for Nancy Lee Lipes Nicely Nancy Lee Lipes Nicely
Eagle Rock Resident Was Sharon Baptist Church Member

Nancy Lee Lipes Nicely, age 83, of 281 Soldier_s Retreat Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Friday, April 5, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg.

She was born August 6, 1935 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Oscar Milton Lipes and Eva Mae Alfred Lipes.

She was a homemaker, and also worked for H. O. Canfield for a number of years.

She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Nancy loved gardening, yard work, and watching her birds. She also liked to visit her friends in the nursing homes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donald Nicely in 1992; a daughter, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Nicely; and two brothers, Harold Wayne Lipes and William C. Lipes.

She is survived by a sister, Juanita L. Akers of Forest; a brother, Buddy R. Lipes of Hopewell; two special nieces, Jennifer D. Akers of Forest, and Sherry A Richardson and husband, John of Rustburg; and three sisters-in-law, Linda Jordan, Ellen Stone, and Meddie Jane Nicely. She is also survived by a number of other nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special cousin, Tommy Alfred and wife, Terry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be John Richardson, Sr., John Richardson, Jr., William Goff, Jr., Kevin Williams, and Michael Jordan. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
