Low Moor Resident Was Former Cafeteria Worker, Mt. Oliver Baptist Church Member

Annie Elvira Broady Terry, age 89, of 2704 Auburn Street, Low Moor, Virginia died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Terry was born June 1, 1929 in Low Moor to the late Elijah and Rosetta Brown Broady.

She was a cafeteria worker for Central Elementary School in Low Moor and a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Low Moor, where she served as Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and usher.

She sang with many community choirs. She loved cooking and was known for her rolls, and also enjoyed quilting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Terry in 1984; a stepson, Robert Terry; a granddaughter, Christina Nelson; two sisters, Carolyn Brown and Florence Fletcher; and two brothers, Edward Broady and Robert Broady.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Nelson and husband, Frank of Grottoes and Sharon Summerville and husband, David of Indianapolis, IN; a son, Joseph C. Terry, Jr. of Neu Isenburg, Germany; a brother, Elijah "Bucky" Broady and wife, Oteria of Low Moor; a sister, Ella Waller of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren, Lisa Terry of Holland, Benjamin Nelson of Harrisonburg, Angela Olaker and husband, Daniel of Grottoes, Roshelle Terry, Sulzbach Rosenberg, Germany, Ginelle VanZant and husband, Myron of Hawaii, Aaliah Terry of Neu Isenburg, Germany, and Nena Summerville of Indianapolis, IN; seven great grandchildren, Jade Shull, Joel VanZant, Julien VanZant, Liam Terry, Abrianna Olaker, Troy Olaker, and Sophia Olaker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Harold G. Preston officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Ben Nelson, David Summerville, Charles Moore, Jr., and Danny Nicely. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 355 Rio Road West, Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
