Douglas Allen Via, age 58, of 318 E. Pennsylvania Street, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born December 15, 1960 in Charlottesville, Virginia and was raised in foster care until he became a resident of The Boys Home in Covington at the age of 10. He lived there until his graduation from Alleghany High School.

He loved camping, fishing, golf, and University of Virginia sports.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Mabry Via of Covington; a daughter, Amber Via of Norfolk; two brothers, Robert "Bobby" Via and wife, Kim of Covington and James Via of New York; two grandchildren, Elias Williamson and Pharyn Williamson; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special great nephew, Brantlee Via.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the All Saints Chapel of The Boys Home in Covington with Minister Ann Grizzle officiating.
