Dorothy Alease Southers, 76, of Lexington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born April 21, 1943 in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Henry Ray Floyd and Annie Bell Lawhorn Floyd.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Southers; three brothers, Jonny Floyd, Henry Floyd and Jack Floyd, all of Lexington; and two sisters, Juanita Fix of Lexington and Edith Miller of Buena Vista.

Surviving are her two daughters, Alma Jean Southers of Rainelle, W.Va., and Alice Kay Riley of Glasgow; five grandchildren (one very special grandson Bentley Rogers), two great-grandchildren and a very close friend and caregiver for more than 34 years, Missy Floyd, and two very special friends, Kristi Ruff and Donnie Clark.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Al Bashlor. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
