Obituary for Freddie Lee Gilliam Freddie Lee Gilliam
Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church Was Burlington Retiree

Freddie Lee Gilliam, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born January 1, 1936 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Smith Payne Gilliam and Susie Wilma Aaron Gilliam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Gilliam.

Freddie was a member of the Arnold's Valley Southern Baptist Church and loved the outdoors and watching dirt track racing.

He was employed at Burlington Industries for 42 years.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Bettie Austin Gilliam; four children, Brian Gilliam (Wendy), Kim Bryant (Fred), Edwin Gilliam (Denise), and Dana Gilliam; four grandchildren, Kirby Gilliam, Aaron Bryant (Becca), Samuel Bryant (Amber) and Travis Gilliam; brother, Richard Gilliam (Betty); sister, Brenda Marshall (Vincent); and special nieces, nephews and close friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Donald Stine and Pastor Randy Watts. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
