Robert Swanson Humphreys, 72, of Buena Vista, Virginia died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born April 25, 1947 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Frank Swanson and Deanie Lou Humphreys.

Robert was also preceded in death by sisters, Eunice Kunick and Elizabeth (Pete) Humphreys; and brothers, Norman "Buck" Edward Humphreys, Frank Wilson Humphreys, Marion Jefferson Humphreys, and Jessie James Humphreys.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Benonia V. Humphreys; children, Robert Swanson Humphreys, Jr., Benonia "Cathy" Humphreys, Sharon Humphreys, Karen Humphreys Bane, Jason Lewis Humphreys and Matthew Joshua Humphreys; 19 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgie Byers and Shirlyn Satterwhite; and brother, Lowell Edward Humphreys; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
