Obituary for John William Swink John William Swink
First Brethren Church Member Was Mohawk Retiree

John William Swink, 75, of Lexington, Virginia died Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home.

Born January 25, 1944 in Lexington, he was a son of the late S. Carlyle Swink and Bessie Mae Zollman Swink.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Wilson Swink.

John was a member of the First Brethren Church and retired from Mohawk with over 30 years of service. He loved his family, riding motorcycles and hunting. John also enjoyed spending time with friends and never met a stranger.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Linda Groah Swink; children, Joey Swink (Debbie), and Todd Swink (Kelley Jo); and four grandchildren, Michaela, Alex, Kenna and Hailey.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at First Brethren Church by the Rev. Mike Hamilton and the Rev. Randall Black. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank each and every one of the caregivers for all of the special care given to John in the last years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Brethren Church Grievance Committee, 100 E. 29th St., Buena Vista, VA 24416.
