Obituary for William (Bill) Lee Ailstock, Jr. William (Bill) Lee Ailstock, Jr.
Korean War Veteran Worked With Hammond Mitchell; Was Greenwood Presbyterian Church Member

Mr. William (Bill) Lee Ailstock, Jr., age 87, of Alleghany County, Virginia went to be with the Lord, May 28, 2019 at his residence.

He was the husband of the late Bertha Jeanette Noel Ailstock.

Mr. Ailstock was born February 3, 1932 in Alleghany County, the son of the late William Lee and Frances Hepler Ailstock.

Mr. Ailstock proudly served his country during the Korean War. He served in the 5th Marine Corps Reserves, where he received various medals: Korean Service Medal with Korean Pres. Unit Cit., National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, and UN Service Medal.

Mr. Ailstock retired from Hammond Mitchell.

He was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Ailstock was an avid hunter and farmer. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and father-in-law.

Mr. Ailstock is survived by two sons, William L. Ailstock III and wife, Donna of Alleghany County and Steven G. Ailstock and wife, Therese of Alleghany County; two daughters, Sandra A. Capps and husband, Benny of Alleghany County, and Alicia A. Gibson of Covington; daughter-in-law, Teresa Wells Ailstock of Alleghany County; grandchildren: Stephanie Ailstock Wells and husband, Joshua, Jeremy Ailstock and fiancee, Carrie Lowry, Christina Ailstock Fridley and husband, Brandon, Ashley Ailstock Gwin and husband, Jonathan, Katie Gibson, Zachary Ailstock, Derek Gibson and Kelsey Ailstock; great grandchildren: Alexis Gwin, Alex Gwin, Brandon "Lane" Fridley, Paylen "PayPay" Grace Fridley, Kinlee Ailstock and Ellie Ailstock; two brothers, Robert G. Ailstock of Roanoke, and Daniel J. Ailstock of Alleghany County; four sisters, Mary Margret Sizemore of Alleghany County, Virginia Belle White of Staunton, Mae Persinger of Roanoke, and Brenda J. Ayers of Botetourt; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ailstock was preceded in death by one son, Bruce W. Ailstock; and two brothers, Thomas G. Ailstock and James (Jim) Ailstock.

A chapel service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at Loving Funeral Home with Rev Bill Catoe officiating. Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park. Graveside rites will be conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be Jay Kellison, Eddie Persinger, Button Persinger, Harry Persinger and Robert Critzer. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Wells and Brandon Fridley.

The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service and at the residence of Steve Ailstock, 703 E. Morris Hill Road.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributes to Falling Springs Fire Department, 305 Friels Drive, Covington, VA 24426, and Dunlap Fire Department, Rt. 159, Hematite, Covington, VA 24426.
