Barbara (Jeanie) Deisher Hipes, 76, of Eagle Rock, Virginia passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Fay and Mary Deisher; and husband of 43 years, Jay Hugh Hipes, Sr. who died in 2015.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Being faithful to her Lord, she was active in her church throughout her life serving in numerous capacities.

She retired from the Botetourt County School System with over 20 years of service.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jay, Jr. and Elizabeth Hipes; Mark and Peyton Hipes; grandchildren, Jay, III "Trey", Charlotte, Esther, and Virginia Hipes.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2019 in the Longdale Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 in the Eagle Rock Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. 540-884-2276.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Glebe for their loving care. Flowers are beautiful, however the family wishes that donations be made in her memory to the Alma Hunt State Missions Offering or to the Eagle Rock Elementary Playground Fund.
