Obituary for Charles Graham Zollman Jr Charles Graham Zollman Jr
Rockbridge County Native Dies In Giles County

Charles Graham Zollman Jr_s heart stopped beating mid-morning June 15, 2019 in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Giles County near Stone Mountain Lodge, doing what he loved and surrounded by his running friends.

Graham was a native of Rockbridge County and son of the late Charles G. Zollman Sr. and Hilda Morris Zollman of Lexington.

Graham joined the United States Army Infantry and served in Vietnam after high school. Upon returning home, he received his criminal justice associate degree and worked as a police officer; later, he was a Bluebird employee in Buena Vista; and lastly returning to school to receive his registered nurse associate degree, retiring at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He loved living in Roanoke and being near mountain trails and the Roanoke Greenway where he would join his running and walking friends regularly. His other passion was music and friends on Thursday nights at Elmwood Park.

He leaves behind many cousins and their families, two of whom he thought of as brother and sister: Vernon Reynolds of Buena Vista and his wife, Libby, and their two daughters, Holly and Heidi, and two grandchildren, Chasity and Brooke; Darlene Doss of Roanoke and husband, Tom and their daughter, Ginna; also, one lifelong friend, Ginger Zollman.

Graham will be remembered as a caring and compassionate person, who will be missed by many friends, family, and his devoted dog, Remy, who always gave him comfort.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Hamilton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
