Retired CSX Clerk Was Clifton Forge Native

Frederick Lee (Fred) Clark, 84, of 302 Morris Hollow Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, June 28, 2019 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born in Clifton Forge on October 10, 1934, a son of the late Harry N. and Gertrude Brown Clark.

Fred was of the Baptist faith, was a retired clerk with CSX Transportation and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Leola Morris Clark; and nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Esther Dudley Clark of Clifton Forge; a son, Robert Lee Clark, of Conway, SC; a sister, Barbara Hoke, of Clifton Forge; his beloved cats, Angel and Cubbie; a number of nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Richard Tinker.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Reverend W. Pembroke Hall and the Reverend Robert McCrae officiating. Active pallbearers will be, Joe Morris, Steve Armentrout, Frank Smith, Bernie Teaford, Tony Kimberlin, Timmy Kimberlin, and Burt Hoke. Interment will follow in Alleghany memorial Park in Low Moor.

His family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Nicely Funeral Home.
