Obituary for Claude Edward (Eddie) Megginson, Jr. Claude Edward (Eddie) Megginson, Jr.
Covington Native Worked With Westvaco For 16 Years

Mr. Claude Edward (Eddie) Megginson, Jr., age 63, of Covington, Virginia was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 24, 2019, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor, Va., surrounded by his loving family.

Eddie will forever be loved and missed by his wife and best friend, Gay "Bridget" Linkenhoker Megginson.

Mr. Megginson was born July 20, 1955 in Covington, the son of the late Claude Edward Megginson, Sr. and Jessie McDowell Megginson.

He was employed with the General Utilities Department of Westvaco, Inc. for sixteen years.

Eddie was the type of person that never met a stranger. He was a friend to everyone. Eddie loved all children and treated them as his own. He really enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by mountains and watching the wildlife.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Megginson is survived by two daughters, Justina Megginson of North Carolina and Jocelyn Hall of Delaware; a son, Jaylon Megginson of California; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Ida "Peaches" Megginson, Coretta Gonzalez, Mary Johnson, and Polly Hamm; two brothers, Robert Megginson and Jeffrey Megginson. He was also survived by a special sister-in-law, Brenda M. Cartwright; a number of nieces and nephews including three special nieces Missy, Mischelle and Mendy, who helped care for him and two special nephews, Shaun Smith and Nathaniel Smith; three special friends, Reginald Carter, Ron Napier and Tony Coles and his loving fur babies.

The family will be accepting visitors, Friday, June 28, 2019 from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. at his niece's residence at 429 E. Fairlawn Drive, Covington, Va. 24426.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
