Alice Lorraine Edwards, 73, of Goshen, Virginia died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her home.

Born January 21, 1946 in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Laymond Douglas Edwards and Alice Ayers Edwards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Vass; a grandson, Ryan Hall; and a brother, William Edwards.

Lorraine was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church, and was a retired occupational scheduler with the state of Virginia.

She was an avid gardener, gambler, and she loved her family.

Surviving are her daughters, JoAnn Hall (David) and Michelle Jolly, both of Goshen; sisters, Carolyn Tolley of Goshen and Wanda Cook of Staunton; grandchildren, Michael Kirby (Kylie), Megan Deel (Jonathan), P. J. Sprouse and Adam Hall (Emma); nine great-grandchildren; special friend, Lisa Richards; special loving friend, Sonny Thompson; canine friends, Jack and Jill; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6 at Goshen Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Reese officiating. Friends may gather with the family in fellowship hall after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Goshen Baptist Church, 51 Baptist Hill Road, Goshen, VA 24439; Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450; or the Rockbridge SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, VA 24450.
