Obituary for Carolyn Ann Runyon-Tingler Carolyn Ann Runyon-Tingler
Hot Springs Resident Worked With Carilion, Bath Community Hospital

Carolyn Ann Runyon-Tingler, 54, of Hot Springs, Virginia went to be with the Lord Jesus on Monday, July 15, 2019 at her home in Hot Springs.

She was born November 21, 1964 in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of Glenna Lea Green Runyon and the late Ellis "John" Ray Runyon.

She was a 1983 graduate of Bath County High School and a 1987 graduate of Liberty University. She was a member of the marching band at both institutions. Later, Carolyn became involved in the Hot Springs Rescue Squad, which led to an interest in nursing. She graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster with a nursing degree.

Carolyn worked as a nurse for both Roanoke Carilion and Bath Community hospitals throughout her career. Carolyn was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She enjoyed crafts, cooking, travel and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her mother, Glenna Runyon of Hot Springs; her husband, John Christopher Tingler, her husband of fourteen years who she married on June 11, 2005; a sister, Nancy Runyon Scyphers and husband, Mike of Glen Allen, Virginia; two nephews, Ryan and Justin Scyphers, both of Glen Allen; a cousin, Lori London of Columbus, Indiana; and numerous other cousins and relatives.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019 at Hot Springs Baptist Church with Pastor David George and Reverend Garland Humphries officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Foster, Jamie Bryant, Bryson Coleman, Bill Wagner, Herbie Cammock, Ryan Scyphers, Justin Scyphers, Michael Colaw, Jeff Fairburn and Michael Spurgeon. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Keith Hummel, Dr. Jeff McCray and Dr. John Lyatash.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
