Obituary for Doris Marie (Williams) Moyers Doris Marie (Williams) Moyers
Owned And Operated Midway Grocery Store In Bolar

Doris Marie (Williams) Moyers, 90, of Bolar, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Bath Community Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1929 in Mustoe, a daughter of the late Charlie and Bertha Eva (Griffin) Williams.

On March 20, 1953 Doris married Carl Joseph Moyers, who preceded her death on March 29, 2015.

Mrs. Moyers and her late husband operated and later owned Midway Grocery in Bolar for over 50 years, until her passing. She always had a smile and looked forward to seeing and visiting with her customers, who were more like close friends, each day. The warmth of her greeting always surpassed the warmth of her old wood stove.

She was a member of Life Line Ministries. When not at the store, Doris enjoyed trying different restaurants, reading and word search puzzles.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by an infant son, Johnny Lee Moyers in 1955; and two sisters Thelma Grissom and Lois Pullin. Mrs. Moyers will be dearly missed by her daughter, Janice M. Moyers of Mt. Airy, Md; son, Carl A. Moyers and wife, Deborah of Chester; siblings, Charlie Williams and wife, Nancy of Bolar, Edwin L. Williams and wife, Carol of Staunton, and Sue Saris and husband, Jim of Mt. Airy, Md.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Pastor Zachary Royer officiating. Committal will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends in attendance.

Memorial donations may be made to Bolar Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1099 Robinson Lane, Warm Springs, Va. 24484.

The Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
