Obituary for Bettie Lue Benson Landis Bettie Lue Benson Landis
Ohio Native, Covington Resident, Dies At Age 91

Ms. Bettie Lue Benson Landis, age 91, formerly of Dolly Ann Apartments, Covington, Virginia passed away on July 27, 2019 at the Brian Center, Low Moor.

She was born November 21, 1927 in Georges Run, OH, the daughter of the late Hubert Lionel Benson and Myrtle Mae Cales Benson Lowen.

She attended Covington High School.

Before her retirement, Bettie was a longtime employee of Oscar's Steak House and Pinehurst Motel.

Ms. Landis is survived by her children, Michael Steven (Sue) Landis of Hot Springs, Teresa Leigh (James) Plott of Covington and James Kevin (Simone) Landis of Lake Frederick; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann (Jack) Munsey of Covington and Steven Brian (Becky) Landis of Hot Springs; and three great grandchildren, Brandon, Whitney and Allison Landis. She is also survived by two sisters, Lillie Mae Moses of Newport News and Patricia Ann (Melvin) Sellers of Covington, as well as several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Cuddles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Edgar Pierce Landis; her brother, James Marion Benson; her sister, Dorothy Marie Smith; and her step-father, Charles Phenoy Lowen.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

Those wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home by 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Michael and Sue Landis, 212 Landis Drive, Falling Springs at other times.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
