Natural Bridge Station Resident Was Matriarch Of Her Family

Hallie Virginia Fisher Williams, 94, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia died Sunday, July 28, 2019 at her home.

Born November 11, 1924 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Fisher and Mary Betty Wilhelm Fisher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Clarence Fisher; four sisters, Audrey Watkins, Loraine Campbell, Maggie Carter and Pauline Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Paul Williams; one former son-in-law, William Brown; five nephews, Eddie Camden, Charles Campbell, Tony Wallace, Clarence Fisher Jr. and David Fisher; one niece, Iris Ferrell; and one former granddaughter-in-law, Wanda Foster.

Hallie was a faithful member of the Faith Baptist Church in Natural Bridge Station and had retired from Burlington Industries' Sample Department.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances W. Brown of Natural Bridge Station; sons, Ronald E. Williams and wife Thelma "Boots" Williams of Concord, N.C., and Arnold B. Williams Sr. and wife, Patricia of Natural Bridge Station; five grandchildren, Roger D. Brown of Buena Vista, Kevin A. Williams and wife, Ume of Laurel, Md., Amy W. Ross and husband, Larry of Charlotte, N.C., Arnold B. "Rhudy" Williams of Natural Bridge Station, and John Mark Williams and wife, Jennifer of Natural Bridge Station; four great-grandchildren, Karyn B. Gardner and husband, Joshua of Natural Bridge Station, Zachary D. Brown of Rockbridge Baths, Luke Williams of Natural Bridge Station, and April N. Williams of Laurel, Md.

Hallie was loved, adored and respected by all who knew her, the matriarch of her family, and we all will miss her greatly.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450.
