Lewisburg Resident Was World War II Veteran

Thomas Morgan Anderson Jr., 94, of Lewisburg, West Virginia passed peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, WV.

Born June 9, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Morgan Anderson Sr. and Emily Chesley Anderson.

Tom was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific on the USS Shannon and USS Clermont from 1944 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged. He also served in The Reserves.

He graduated from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) in June 1950.

Tom was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and was a member at both St. David's Church in Baltimore and St. James Church in Lewisburg.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Webster Mattingly.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Janet Houston Anderson, children, Thomas Anderson (Gwen), Ford Anderson (Becky), Margaret Cheyne (Mark), and John Anderson (Kristin); grandchildren, Michael, Emily (Corey), Joshua (Sandra), Kristen (Tyler), Matthew, Katie, Noah, Isabel and a great grandson, Corbin.

It was Tom's wish to be cremated. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
