Buena Vista Businessman Dies At Age 74

Erskine Wayne (Buddy) (Cotton) Mohler, 74, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away on August 2, 2019 at his home.

Born December 21, 1944, he was the son of the late Doris Rogers Mohler and Roy Erskine Mohler.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Laura Jean Wheeler Mohler; his daughter, Beth Stinnett, and son-in-law, David; his son, Roy Mohler, and daughter-in-law, Sarah; grandchildren, Peyton, Chloe, Natalie and John-Luke; his sister, Joyce Mohler Wheeler, and brother-in-law, Joe Wheeler; and 67 nieces and nephews.

Buddy was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving in the U. S. Army 84th Engineers A Company. He was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, and an honorary member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad and had been recognized for his volunteer work.

Buddy was also a local business man who operated Mohler's Grocery, Rollerama Skating Rink, This & That Buy-Sell-Trade, and Buddy's Diner. His last job was working in maintenance and custodial services at Kling Elementary where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Buddy." Buddy loved '50s music and collecting old cars. Most of all, he loved his family.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the America Legion, the Buena Vista Rescue Squad, or any veterans organization.
