World War II Veteran Was Former WRON Radio Announcer

Edwin Boone Wilson, Sr., 91, of Lewisburg, West Virginia passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his residence in Lewisburg.

He was born June 27, 1928 in Fayette County, WV, a son of the late Charles Leroy and Vivian Gertrude Boone Wilson.

Edwin attended Organ Cave Elementary School, Greenbrier High School in Ronceverte and Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg.

He was a former announcer at WRON Radio station for several years.

He attended Ronceverte Presbyterian Church and was a World War II U. S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise R. McIntyre and two brothers, Rev. Charles Leroy Wilson, Jr. and William Wilson.

He is survived by his children, Charles Edwin Wilson of Cleburne, TX; William Stitch Wilson of Frankford, Thomas Lynn Wilson of Wesley Chapel, FL, Deborah Weisel of Kissimmee, FL, Edwin Butch Wilson, Jr. of Organ Cave, Deitra Wilson of Oklahoma and Eddie Shannon Wilson of Lawrenceville, GA; a son-in-law, Redd McIntyre of Moneta, VA; a brother, Robert Wilson of Chicago, IL; and two grandchildren, Tracey Wilson-Adair of Texas and Jesse Wilson of Oklahoma; four great grandchildren.

His body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
