Obituary for Raymond Eugene Caldwell Raymond Eugene Caldwell
Marine Corps Veteran Was Farmer, Coal Miner, Truck Driver

Raymond Eugene Caldwell, age 68, of Deleon, Texas died Saturday, August 10, 2019 in Early, Texas.

He was born May 24, 1951 to Rachel Rose Caldwell Persinger and the late Stanley E. Caldwell.

He served in the United States Marine Corps. When he was discharged from the Marines, he became involved in farming, worked in the coal mines in West Virginia, and was a tractor trailer driver for several years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger S. Caldwell; and daughter, Angela Carol Johnson.

He is survived by his mother, Rachel Rose Caldwell Persinger and her husband, Charles "Sonny" Persinger of Covington; his wife, Carolyn Hivite Caldwell; a daughter, Crystal Ann Caldwell, both of Deleon, Texas; three sisters, Brenda Tingler, Tammy Caldwell, both of Clifton Forge, and Amy Hogg of Glen Wilton; a brother, Randy Caldwell of Clifton Forge; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Bottom Cemetery, Eagle Rock.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
