Obituary for Ervin (Dale) Propst Ervin (Dale) Propst
Asbury Methodist Church Member Was Longtime Virginia Trout Company Employee

Ervin (Dale) Propst, 78, of Monterey, Virginia passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1941 in Franklin, WV, a son of the late Grover and Mary Alice (Harper) Propst. On November 11, 1960 he married Ella Grace Clayton, who predeceased him August 3, 2018.

Dale was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was employed by Virginia Trout Company for 44 years.

He had a love for dancing, visiting with people, as well as attending the county fair, truck and tractor pulls and the Maple Festival. Above all, he will be remembered for his jokester ways, always putting a smile on the face of others.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Propst of Monterey; two brothers, Roger and wife, Patsy and Larry, all of Monterey; two sisters, Judy Woods of Woodbridge and Sandy Dodd and husband, Jim of Unionville; caregiver and sister-in-law, Dallas Waybright of Monterey; sister-in-law, Myrtle Lambert and husband, Bill; a great number of nieces and nephews; as well as special pets, Pepper, Phil, Pixie and Puck.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastors Bobbie Jo Gardener and Shawna Hiner officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 23 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lambert, Rob Halterman, Kirk Propst, Jr. Kimble, Donnie Halterman, Rick Halterman, Eddie Lambert and Greg Lambert.

Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
