Lewisburg Resident Dies At Age 100

Myrtle Lillian Rakstad Cutright, 100 years-old of Lewisburg, WV, previously of Martinez, CA, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

Born September 1, 1919 in Vining, Minnesota, she was a daughter of the late Thom Anderson and Malla Lyson Rakstad.

She graduated from Henning High School, Henning, Minnesota in 1938. After graduation, she served in the WACs (Women's Army Corps) from 1943 to 1945 during World War II, as a Link Trainer teaching pilots simulated instrument flying.

In 1948, she moved to Martinez, California and became a beautician. She attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Walnut Creek, CA.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Cutright; a step-son, Robert J. Cutright; a daughter-in-law, Nellie D. Cutright; grandsons, Tracy B. Cutright, David E. Cutright, and granddaughter, Kelly A. Cutright; half-brothers, Millard, Phillip, Marvin, Bernett, Gilbert and a half-sister, Edna.

She is survived by a step-son, Charles W. Cutright and wife, Mary of Lewisburg, WV; grandchildren, Tom (Linda) of Martinez, CA, Bobby (Nancy) of West Point, UT, Steven (Angel) of Needles, CA, Scott of SC, and Tamara of Alderson, WV; 16 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended loving family members.

A memorial service and interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette, CA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made in her memory to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
