Rockbridge County Native Was Former Kroger Head Cashier

Frances Arlene Mayo Kessinger, 88, of Lexington, Virginia died Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab Center.

Born October 1, 1931 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Talbert Mayo and Virginia Saunders Mayo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ronald Kessinger Sr.

Frances was a member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church, and worked for Kroger for over 40 years, retiring as head cashier.

Surviving are her children, William Ronald "Billy" Kessinger Jr. (Joan) of Lexington, Samuel Carl Kessinger (Judy) of Natural Bridge Station, and Carolyn Sue Kessinger Coggins (David) of Cherryville, N.C.; sister, Betty Lou Hutcherson (Red); eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at Timber Ridge A. R. Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Derryl LaFave officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
