Dewey Maynard Fainter, 89, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Born September 17, 1930 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Alexander Haden Fainter and Mary Smith Fainter.

Dewey served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Fainter Vines and Doris Fainter Stark; and brothers, Haden and Harlan Fainter.

Surviving are his daughter, Darla Topley of Troy, and his son, Richard Drew Fainter of Warrenton; sisters, Catherine F. Renz and Sophie F. Camden, both of Buena Vista, Caroline F. Claytor of Natural Bridge Station, and Joyce F. Hambrick of Lexington; and former wife, Katherine Jean Fainter.

No memorial service has been scheduled at this time.
