Iron Gate Native Was Faith Baptist Church Member

Mrs. Violet (Christine) Linkswiler Loan, age 94, of 330 Horse Mountain View, Covington, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, October 5, 2019.

She was the beloved wife of the late Claude Mitchell Loan, Sr. for 65 years.

Mrs. Loan was born January 29, 1925 in Iron Gate, Virginia, the daughter of the late Savannas "Van" and Margaret Rose Fox Linkswiler of Selma, VA.

She was the last living sibling of her family of 12 children.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Bernetta Loan Shively, her oldest son, Claude Mitchell Loan, Jr. and her granddaughter, Tamara Loan Overcash.

Surviving are her children, Joyce Loan Cronin and husband, Joe of Goodview, June Loan Hayslett and husband, Richard of Covington, Gerry Loan and wife, Cindy of Hot Springs, Jewel Loan Pence and husband, David of Roanoke, Leniese Baker Kitt and husband, Gary of Covington; sixteen grandchildren, Melanie Loan Fuhrman and husband, Rick of Daleville, Allison Loan Price and husband, Josh of Raleigh, NC, Christopher Hodges and wife, Amy of Roanoke, Cortney Gary and husband, Jack of Williamsburg, Brad Hayslett and wife, Molly of Roanoke, Blair Hayslett of Blacksburg, Sarah Bailey and husband, Brian of Knoxville, TN, Amy Barden and husband, John of Harrisonburg, Emma Loan of Covington, Angela Pence of Buchanan, Micah Pence and fiance, Kristy of Roanoke, Samantha Feazell and husband, Kurt of Clifton Forge, Tiffany Hatcher and husband, Chris of Covington, Hannah Shively of Richmond and Sarah Shively of Richmond; eighteen great-grandchildren; Harlee Fuhrman, Connor Fuhrman, Carter Overcash, Tristan Price, Scarlett Price, Maverick Price, Holden Hodges, Aubrey Hodges, Charlotte Gary, Iris Gary, Abigail Hayslett, Evan Hayslett, E.J. Brown, Milly Barden, Charley Feazell, Harper Feazell, Marijane Hatcher, and Caroline Hatcher; a number of nieces and nephews; two very special friends, Jeanie Nida and Martha Simmons and her beloved cat, Patsy.

Christine was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church and a homemaker all her life. She was well-known for her homemade pies and would always make "your" favorite. She had a great love for children and loved spending time with family and friends. Her life was full of great humor and joy. She especially loved spending time at her "home away from home" The Cowpasture River.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Hodges, Brad Hayslett, Blair Hayslett, Micah Pence, Richard Hayslett, Rick Fuhrman, Kurt Feazell, and John Barden.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.,Tuesday evening at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Faith Baptist Church, 311 Jackson Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
