Obituary for Manard Leon (Pete) Markham Manard Leon (Pete) Markham
Marine Corps Veteran Worked With Hercules, Inc.

Manard Leon (Pete) Markham, 77, of 2330 S. Lewis Ave., Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at LewisGale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

Mr. Markham was born July 30, 1942 in Alleghany County, the son of Joseph and Ossie Lee Markham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Markham, his second wife, Billisue Quate Markham; three sisters, and five brothers.

He was a former operator with Hercules Inc. and served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Pete was an avid Hokies fan and a member of the Chestnut Mountain Hunting Club.

Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Leichter and husband, Ron of Covington; two sons, Patrick Markham and wife, Jennifer of Covington and Dennis Markham and wife, Amy of Staunton; six grandchildren, Chris Markham and wife, Hannah, Tony Leichter, Ryan Markham, Shelby Leichter, Emma Markham, and Blake Markham; three great grandchildren, Kale, Memphis, and Wilder Markham; his mother-in-law, Charlotte Jennings Quate; a sister, Wilma Spangler of Clifton Forge; a number of nieces and nephews, and his fur babies, Beamer, Anna, and Ms. Kitty.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive their friends from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
