Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church Member Was Avid Cougar Fan, Band Supporter

Mrs. Delta Dawn Williams Rickett, age 45, of Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem.

She was the wife of Mark Alan Rickett and mother of Megan Dawn Rickett.

Mrs. Rickett was born December 26, 1973 in Ronceverte, WV, the daughter of Patricia A. Martin Williams Jennings and the late Garland Andrew Williams.

She was employed as a WIMS Specialist by HSN for twenty-five years.

Dawn was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served her church as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the handbell choir, and helped with the nursery and "Suppertime At Granbery" dinners.

An alumna of Covington High School, Mrs. Rickett was an avid Cougar fan and was called "Mama Dawn" by the members of the Covington High School Band, where she chaperoned and helped with many aspects of the band. She was also a huge fan of the Baltimore Ravens.

In addition to her mother, Patricia Jennings and her husband, Mark Rickett, Mrs. Rickett is survived by a daughter, Megan Dawn Rickett; a brother, David A. Williams; a sister, Kimberly W. Ambursley; two nieces and two nephews, Karlie Williams, Samuel Patrick, Brianna Lewis and Aaron Lewis; two great nieces and one great nephew, Mariah Williams, Penelope Lewis and Aaron Lewis, Jr.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Rickett was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Lewis Gene Williams, Sr. and an uncle, Lewis Gene Williams, Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2019 at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Sung Yoo officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Patrick, Aaron Lewis, Lori Rickett McCormick, Johnny Osborne, Debbie Chapman and Jason Lowden.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Covington High School Band, 606 S. Lexington Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
