Longtime Bennett Logging And Lumber Employee Dies At Age 50

Mr. Daniel James McCormick Sr., age 50, of Covington, Virginia departed this earth on Thursday, October 31, 2019.

He was the husband of Lori Rickett McCormick.

Mr. McCormick was born November 12, 1968 in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Benton Howard McCormick and Elise Jennings McCormick.

Daniel spent 31 years of his working career at Bennett Logging and Lumber, where he held multiple positions. A private man who lived for his wife, two sons, family, and his beloved dog, Jack, Daniel relished his roles as husband, father, brother, grandfather, and family man.

He was an avid outdoorsman and "Jack of all trades" with a wonderful sense of humor. A kind and gentle man, Daniel was loved by his wife, adored by his sons and granddaughter, cherished by his sisters, respected by his co-workers and admired by all who were blessed to know him.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his two sons, Daniel J. McCormick Jr. and Jacob McCormick, both of Covington; a granddaughter, Elayna Grace McCormick; two sisters, Joyce Ham of Mount Sidney, and Rebecca Harris of Amelia, Virginia, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his older brother, Howie McCormick.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Family and friends are welcome at the family home.
