Glen Shelton To Perform At The Virginia Opry   Clifton Forge, VA (Feb. 7, 2024) - Glen Shelton, a member of The Virginia Opry who is a recording artist with Jordash Records of Nashville, will be performing at The Historic Masonic Theatre on Sat., Feb. 10, at 7:00 p.m. Shelton’s “Before You,” has reached No. 54 on “New Music Weekly on Music Row’s Top 60,” the chart that revealed Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse” held the No. 1 spot, on Feb. 2, the day Shelton’s song was listed at No. 54. Bruce Allen, a member of The Virginia Opry who is co-owner with Jim Jordan of Jordash Records, will also perform on The Virginia Opry’s “A Patsy Cline Valentine Tribute to the Grand Ole Opry” alongside Shelton. Shelton recorded two songs for Jordash that charted in 2023, “I’m All In” and “I Am Writing You a Love Song.” Other Virginia Opry performers who will be performing on the show with Shelton are Denise Glass, a recording artist from Jonesville, Va. who has performed Patsy Cline tributes in several states, and Jason Burke, a recording artist who teams with Bruce Allen as a country duo. Bruce Allen made his debut on The Virginia Opry during the mid-1990s as did Shelton. Keith Bryant, a Nashville recording artist who was the first Virginia Opry member to be featured in a Virginia Opry one-man showcase show, toured the nation for three years after his recording, “Ridin’ with the Legend” reached Billboard’s Top Hot Country 50. His song about Dale Earnhardt solidified Bryant’s career as a nationally-known country music artist who was invited to Johnny Cash’s birthday party. The hit remains a NASCAR favorite, one that is played nationally on the radio. Shelton, a 1989 graduate of Liberty University, has opened for many top country acts, and after retiring as an educator, he had devoted his time to song writing and recording. M. Ray Allen, a songwriter who is the founder and current director of The Virginia Opry, said, “Glen’s career in the country music field is heading toward its zenith, and I am happy to see his songs charting on a regular basis.” He concluded, “Our first show of 2024, features five of our 71 members, and on March 31, 2020, Governor Ralph S. Northam signed “Senate Bill 283” to designate our Virginia Opry as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s official Opry.” Tickets for The Virginia Opry’s first show of its 33rd performance season are $15 for balcony seating and $20 for orchestra seating.
