VFW Auxiliary Announces Annual Membership Drive

| Covington, VA (Feb. 17, 2024) - VFW Auxiliary to Curtis A Smith Post 1033 is seeking patriotic men and women to join them making a difference in the lives of Covington veterans, service members and their families.
The Auxiliary is hosting an information session on March 16, 2024, for men and women who want to learn more about the organization and its work in our community.
“TheAuxiliary provides members an opportunity to honor and give back to all who have served, and who are serving, this great nation. It's our chance to say “thank you” to them for their sacrifice," said Auxiliary President Marian Paxton.
The information session will take place at The Discovery Center at 3:00 p.m. at 227 North Maple Avenue in Covington. "We will be having a tea. We encourage those interested in learning more about the VFW Auxiliary to come and learn how they can help make an impact on the lives of veterans in Covington," she continued.
The VFW Auxiliary's tagline is “Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes” and for more than 100 years, we have been supporting the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving veterans and their families, and spreading patriotism nationwide. During the last two years Auxiliary members:
• Provided $9.6 million dollars in goods and services to veterans, service members and their families
• Volunteered more than 665,000 hours in VA Medical Centers, hospitals, nursing homes and veterans homes
• Made nearly 200,000 legislative contacts to help pass or block important bills
• Distributed more than 600,000 American Flags.
• Sent thousands of holiday cards, Veterans Day, Christmas and Valentines for Veterans

Who can join? Husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, grandson, granddaughter, grandmother, daughter, sister, mother and wife.
