45th Anniversary of Edgemont Preschool   Covington, VA (Aug. 1, 2024) - Edgemont Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the 45th anniversary of Edgemont Preschool (EPS). The Christian-based program began in 1979 under the direction of Mrs. Reta Harris. Fondly known as “Miss Reta”, the program introduced children to basic kindergarten skills of letters, numbers, cooperative play, and biblical education. This September starts the 23rd year for our current director “Miss Tracy” Morgan. She and her loving staff continue to nurture the children by providing a daily foundation of the Bible through stories and singing. All these experiences and lessons are delivered as a curriculum of Christian worldview as taught in God’s Word - the Holy Bible. Students not only learn social skills through play, but are introduced to early academic skills and art. Major holidays are celebrated by learning through crafts, songs, and snacks and field trips are attended in the fall and spring. The importance of our own community is stressed and introduced through programs from our local law enforcement, fire and rescue squads, sanitation department, and some community members have brought horses and tractors to the church. The staff and students also participate within the community during the Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall, collect items for the Christmas Mother, and help decorate a Christmas tree at the Jackson River Sports Complex. Over the existence of our Preschool, thousands of children have been nurtured by a loving staff and our staff for the 2024-2025 school year are Tracy Morgan, Meghan Kirby, Jennifer Hubbard, and Autumn Randozzo.
