 | Jeter-Watson Elementary School fifth-grader Mason LaPrade received permission to wear a special hat to school Wednesday in honor of 9/11. Mason’s tribute led Jeter-Watson to hold USA Appreciation Day. Mason suggested the title for the special observance. Mason wanted to wear the hat in honor of his father, Joshua LaPrade, an Afghan War veteran who serves as a Covington police officer. Mason said his hat symbolizes freedom, he wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Army. Mason is pictured with Covington Police Officer Mike Browning.
