'80th Annual Alleghany Highlands Labor Day Celebration' Draws Hundreds

Covington, VA (Sept. 1, 2025)— The "80th Annual Alleghany Highlands Labor Day Celebration" began at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon with a parade through downtown Covington. Lasting approximately one hour, the celebration then moved to the Jackson River Sports River Sports Complex (JRSC).
At the JRSC, there were plenty of activities to choose from. The Craftmatic Band brought the tunes whilst several vendors set up with food, a 50/50 raffle, and other little trinkets for purchase. Additionally, Calloway Enterprises Inc. was on hand with their popular "T&T Express" train ride, Shriner's famous donuts were for sale, Pure Pro Wrestling took the ring at 6:00 p.m., the Alleghany Cruisers had a Car Show going behind the stage, a cornhole tournament was happening, the Vinyl National Band got going at 7:00 p.m., and fireworks started around 9:00 p.m.
