Obituary for Werner Eugen Stoessel Werner Eugen Stoessel
Switzerland Native Spent 37 Years Working With The Greenbrier Hotel

Werner Eugen Stoessel, 93, of White Sulphur Springs, WV passed away on December 27, 2019.

He was born on March 18, 1926 in Zurich, Switzerland. He was proud to have dual citizenship in both the United States of America and Switzerland.

Werner began his career overseas by attending culinary school. He then went on to work in the hotel service in Europe, Canada, New York City, and Colorado. He ended up settling in White Sulphur Springs with his wife and became a boss of many titles at The Greenbrier Hotel. Werner served there for 37 years.

His influences include teaching five-star service throughout the hospitality and culinary industry.

Werner was a faithful member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

He also had many hobbies. Some of these hobbies included golfing, bowling, and anything involving a competition. He also had a great love for youth including being a performing magician for children and schools.

Werner is preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Trudy Stoessel and a brother-in-law, Max Weber.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Norine Turner Stoessel; daughters, Michelle Stoessel of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Layna Wood (Bill) of Hedgesville, WV; one sister, Trudy Weber of Bern, Switzerland; a grandson, Garrett Bostic (Kelsie) and one special great-granddaughter, Arielle Bostic of White Sulphur Springs, WV; two nephews, Peter Weber (Senda) and Urs Weber. Also, a great nephew, Tjakko Weber.

Services will be held at Whatcoat United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, WV on Monday, December 30, 2019. The family will receive guests for visitation at 1 p.m. Following will be the funeral at 2 p.m. Officiating the services are his grandson, Reverend Garrett Bostic and Reverend Greg Scott.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Gideon International, P. O. Box 1380, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
