Frankford Resident Was Korean War Veteran, Worked With Bethlehem Steel

Chester Phillip Sampson, 89, of Frankford, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home.

Born July 21, 1930 at Lewisburg, WV, he was the son of the late James Alfred and Virginia Pluma Harvey Sampson.

Mr. Sampson was a U. S. Army, Korean War veteran.

He was a member of the Anthony Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Chester worked for Bethlehem Steel and was also a self-employed contractor.

He loved gardening, having crab feasts, singing, and spending time with his loving family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Phillip Sampson; grandsons, Paul Edmond Sampson and Caleb Alexander Sampson; brothers and sisters, William "Bill" Sampson, Earl Sampson, Dorothy Wolk, Fern Bertier, Pat Meredith, Delbert Sampson, and Alice Jones.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Janet Campbell Sampson; sons: Stephen Edward Sampson (Lisa Marie) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Keith Russell Sampson (Lisa Ann) of Estonia, Europe; daughter in law, Jessica Sampson of Danville, IL; brother, James Sampson (Faith) of Arkansas, sisters: Carol Dean (Larry) of Lewisburg, WV and Hettie Hancock of Virginia; grandchildren: Christopher, Daryl, Jeremy, Alexander, Sean, Candice and Phillip Sampson and Corissa Sampson Hunt; great grandchildren: Lennox and Wallas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel , 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV with his son, Keith Sampson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at the funeral home.
