Barbara Ann Snowden, 84, of Lexington, Virginia passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on April 5, 2020.

She was born on February 26, 1936 in Patterson, Ga., where she was raised on a tobacco farm. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a business degree and spent most of her life in Florida.

Barbara was a force to be reckoned with when she had her mind set on something. She weathered losing her first husband and a son, as well as her second husband, Grady, who she said was the love of her life.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a regular at our wonderful local library and had recorded every book she had read since the late '90s. Her total was 1,205 books.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Scott and Ami Shank, as well as her two grandchildren, Seth Carl Shank and Lauren Christine Shank.

It was an honor to be able to support and have her in our home during this bittersweet time. I'd like to express my overwhelming gratitude for Rockbridge Area Hospice for making her transition a peaceful and bittersweet time.
