Chad Hunter Austin, 31, of Buena Vista, Virginia has entered his heavenly home.
Born October 22, 1988, he is the beloved son of David and Ellen Austin, older brother of Michael Austin, (who Chad named), grandson of Mary "Granny" Roberts Berry, as well as nephew to many special aunts and uncles, and close friend to special cousins.
Chad is joining several loved ones who preceded him in death. Namely, he has entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be alongside his maternal grandparents, Ryland "PaPaw" and Margaret "MeMaw" Dyer Argenbright; paternal grandfather, James David Austin, and paternal grandfather, Eddie Thomas Berry Jr.
Chad was a member of First Brethren Church and was involved in the youth group for several years. He was a 2007 graduate of PMHS and captain of the football team, which he loved. He went on to W&L, then transferred to Radford University.
Chad had an adventurous, free spirit and a love for the outdoors, fishing and hiking at nearby rivers and lakes. Gunner, a trusted canine companion, routinely accompanied him. The two were often inseparable, and their close relationship exemplified Chad's broader fascination with animals and his genuine connection to the natural world around him. This love for animals also brought him to his last job where he took great pride in his work and demonstrated the compassion needed to care for the amazing creatures he was entrusted with. He truly enjoyed talking and interacting with the animals.
Although not always comfortable understanding people, he always seemed to be intimately linked with other walks of life. Rest easy and enjoy fishing in heaven Chad with PaPaw. We will forever cherish your memories.
In lieu of flowers, Carter Bank & Trust (116 East Midland Trail, Lexington, VA 24450) will have an account in David and Ellen Austin's name, open for donations to "Be a Tree" in memory of Chad Austin at the Green Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. With this program, a special tree will be planted at a later date to live and grow in his memory. A private memorial service will also be held later.
