Lewisburg Youth Dies At Age 9

James Richard Holliday III, age 9, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, left his earthly home to join the Lord on June 9, 2020.

James was a brave fighter for his nine short years here on earth, battling Rett Syndrome, but Rett Syndrome did not win, Jesus did! He overcame many obstacles and stunned all with his strong will and determination.

"Baby James" as many who knew him, knew only love and compassion. He was loved by many and everyone who came to know him were instantly captured, especially by his big blue eyes.

Born September 16, 2010 in Christiansburg, Virginia, he was the son of James Richard "Richie" Holliday II and Kristen Howdock Holliday.

James was a member of the Ronceverte Baptist Church where he was loved and prayed for daily. He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Asher Jameson Holliday, paternal great grandparents, James Richard and Lucille Mae Morgan Holliday and Martha Mann Dillon, maternal great grandparents, William and Mary Breedlove Bird, Eddie and Peggy Beasley Howdock.

Those who will miss him the most are his loving and devoted parents, Richie and Kristen Howdock Holliday, little brother, Alden Andrew Holliday, his service dog, Macie, paternal grandparents, Richard "Dickie" and Brenda Dillon Holliday of Ronceverte, WV; maternal grandparents, Andy and Sheila Bird Howdock of Peterstown, WV; aunt, Sarah Beth "Aunt Sis" Baker and uncle, Steven of Ronceverte, WV; aunt, Melissa "Lissa" Adkins of Peterstown, WV; loving cousins, Jaycee, Brycen, Preston, Hunter, Sadie Mae, Sylvie, Silas, Savannah; "special brothers", Logan and Landon Hayes; great aunts and uncles, Joan (Jay) Leftwich, Steve (Cheryl) Howdock, Kathy (Eddie) Harris, Donnie Holliday, Mike (Wendy) Holliday, Janice (David) Deem; great-great aunt, Margaret French; "special aunt", Brittany McDaniel; special caretaker, "Miss Bonnie" Farren, several other cousins and many more.

The family would like to send a sincere "Thank You" to all of James' doctors, especially his pediatrician, Dr. Florence Mogen, nurses, teachers, therapists, caseworkers and supporters for everything you have done to make his life the best it could be.

A celebration of James' life will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Rodney Lawson officiating. The family encourages bright colored clothing.

Burial will follow beside his brother in the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Organ Cave, WV. Visitation will be 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2020 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Landon Hayes, Logan Hayes, Jay Leftwich, Steven Baker, Tim Lilly, John Knotts and Tyler Hylton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the James Holliday III Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Bank of Monroe, 9679 Seneca Trail, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or can be dropped off at any Bank of Monroe location, or to Saint Francis Service Dogs, P. O, Box 19538, Roanoke, VA 24019.
