Homemaker Worked With Purdue Farms; Was Word Of Life Ministries Church Member

Gail Garland Donovan Brookman, age 76, of 346 Lauren Kay Lane, Covington, Virginia died Monday, June 22, 2020 at 526 E. Kline Street in Covington.

Gail was born June 2, 1944 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Willard S. and Clelia Virginia Kitt Donovan.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a production worker for Purdue Farms in Bridgewater.

She attended the Word of Life Ministries Church and was a big Washington Redskins fan.

She was a perfect mother, a kind and loving person, and always giving of herself.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Brookman, Sr.; a son, Russell Willard "Bucky" Brookman, Jr.; a sister, Barbara Chaplin; a brother, Willard Donovan; and a niece and nephew.

She is survived by five daughters, Patricia DePriest and husband, Roger, Teresa DePriest and boyfriend, Kenny Keyser; Connie Contreras, Constance Parr, and Virginia Nuckols and husband, Gary, all of Covington; two sisters, Betty Loan and Celia "Reddie" Reynolds, both of Clifton Forge; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Dean DePriest, Jr., Joshua DePriest, Matthew DePriest, Donnie DePriest, Jr., Christopher Brookman, Arthur Lopez, Miguel Brookman and James Barber.

The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
