Vietnam War Veteran Was Longtime Accountant, Ronceverte Presbyterian Church Member

Donald R. (Donnie) Massey, 71, of Ronceverte, West Virginia passed away on Wednesday July 8, 2020.

Donnie was born December 14, 1948 in Ronceverte, the son of Nellie Wykle Massey and the late E. Richard Massey.

He was a retired accountant with Walter Sheets and Sons Trucking Company, as well as a private accountant for many friends and relatives.

He served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Donnie was a member of Ronceverte Presbyterian Church where he was Treasurer, Elder, Deacon and Trustee; was a member of the Ronceverte Lions Club for over 45 years, where he obtained the Leonard Jarrett award, the Melvin Jones award as well as being treasurer for over 30 years and past president and cabinet secretary and treasurer.

He was an avid WVU sports fan, loved fishing on the river banks of WV and along the Outer Banks, NC. But Donnie's most joy was being with and playing with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death, other than his father, was his son, Jamie Aaron Massey; his parental grandparents, Kellis and Nellie Burns Massey and his maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Stella Erskine Wykle.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Simms Massey; mother, Nellie Wykle Massey of Ronceverte; daughters, Sophia Simms-Sibold (Brad) of Pickaway and Reagan Simms-Rodgers (Bob); grandchildren, Thomas Sibold, Christian Sibold, Kinsley Rae Sibold and Rhett Rodgers; brother, Gary (Terri) Massey of Fairlea and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to the Covid-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family will be holding private services prior.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church, 261 Locust Street, Ronceverte, WV 24970 or to the WV Lions Sight Conservation Foundation, 1170 Avalon Road, Fairmont, WV 26554.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
