Obituary for Lena Belle Persinger Elmore Lena Belle Persinger Elmore
Alleghany County Native Was Longtime Cliffdale Christian Church Member

Mrs. Lena Belle Persinger Elmore, age 93, of Covington, Virginia died Sunday, September 6, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family who had taken care of her.

She was the wife of the late Arthur Clarence Elmore to whom she was married for fifty-five years.

Mrs. Elmore was born February 6, 1927 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late John Ira Persinger and Clara Jane Persinger.

She was a longtime and active member of Cliffdale Christian Church.

Lena loved being outdoors especially working in her flower beds and garden and going fishing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family leaving lasting memories for them especially her daughter, Linda, who considered her "her best friend".

Mrs. Elmore is survived by a two daughters, Doris E. Fatzinger and husband, Don and Linda E. Simmons and husband, Harry; a daughter-in-law, Ginger Elmore; eight grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Charles Persinger of Covington; a sister, Hazel Fuller of Hiwass; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Elmore was preceded in death by a son, Arthur (Buck) Elmore.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Christian officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Elmore, Bobby Curtis, Tony Smith, Dean Fuller, Chris Fatzinger and Jeff Keifer. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Anderson and Faith Weirich.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 11:45 a.m. to time of service at the Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, American Heart Association Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen VA 23060, the American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24011 or Cliffdale Christian Church, 4605 Upper Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
