Erslyn Montague Turner, of Glasgow, Virginia, daughter of the late Charlie Turner and Lucy Franklin Turner, was born on October 6, 1936 in Rockbridge County. She was called to her heavenly home on Sept. 9, 2020.

Erslyn graduated from Lylburn Downing High School and completed classes at Phillips Business School. She retired from Burlington Industries as a lab technician.

Erslyn accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church, serving as church clerk, singing in the Young Adult and Senior Choirs. She loved her church and attended faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

She was preceded in death by her sisters whom she loved, missed and remembered, Polly Williams, Alma Fitz, Costella Scott, Fanny Thompson, and Shirley Strowbridge.

Erslyn leaves to cherish precious memories her son, Dwayne Turner; daughters, Tamara Rosser (James) and Tina Barnes (Gary); four grandchildren, Jasmine Rosser, Sheterra Rosser, Damon Turner, and Lauryn Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Sammy Thompson, Kendal Thompson and Daeira Turner; a very special niece, Pam Keith, who was also one of her caregivers, and a special nephew, Jim Thompson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, good friends, and those who loved her kind and generous spirit.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery, Shawnee Street, Glasgow, Virginia, by Dr. Horace Rice.
