Obituary for Ronnie Franklin Scott Ronnie Franklin Scott
Retired Mechanic Was White Sulphur Springs Resident

Ronnie Franklin Scott, 65, of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., was called home to Heaven Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Moncove Lake in Gap Mills, W.Va.

Born December 2, 1954 in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., he was one of five children born to the late Joe and Wanda Scott.

A retired mechanic, Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He coached youth sports in White Sulphur Springs and operated the shot clock for Greenbrier East High School basketball for many years.

In death, Ronnie is reunited with his beloved Belinda, who lost her life as the result of the catastrophic flooding of June 23, 2016. On that day, Ronnie led a group of neighbors, many of whom were strangers, who became friends, through the floodwaters to safety.

Though Ronnie lost his wife and his home to the floodwaters, he never lost hope.

As his heart healed, he was aided by friends and family as well as by the love of a tiny chihuahua named Dancer, whom he said rescued him just as much as he rescued her. Dancer, who served as his certified therapy dog and was never far from his side, grieves his loss.

Left to cherish his memory are children, Kimberly Lester (Mark), of Neola, W.Va., and Kevin Scott (Noel Meadows) of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Remington Scott, Hayleigh Scott, William Lester, Jasmine Lester, Alexis Lester, Heidi Lester, Lanti Lester, Harley "Caroline" Lester, Josh Beverly, Hanna Meadows and Aubree Meadows; and great granddaughter, RaeLynn Lester. He will also be missed by girlfriend, Shelia Leslie of White Sulphur Springs, and her children, Erin Leslie, Sarah Leslie and Adam Humphrey (Amy), as well as her grandchildren, Alizabeth and Adam Jr., and her dog, Abbi. Ronnie also leaves behind brothers, Joseph Scott (Brenda) and Jimmie Scott of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and sisters, Carolyn Ware of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and Anita Martin (James), of Union. Ronnie also leaves behind best friend, Emmett Sullivan of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., many nieces and nephews, other family members and numerous people with whom he camped at Lake Honeybee, named for Belinda, at Moncove Lake.

Though he is gone from this Earth, we take comfort in the belief that we will see him again one day, as he dedicated his life to the Lord March 20, 2016.

For now, Ronnie is missed by family, friends and by everyone who had the good fortunate to know him.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Bethesda Church in White Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Randy Gillilam officiating. Burial will follow in Mapledale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Greenbrier County Humane Society.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
